Scripting Journal: Manifest ("the app", "we") is a private journaling app. This policy explains what data the app handles and the choices you have. We built the app to be local-first: you can use every core feature without an account, and in that case your writing never leaves your device.

What we collect

• Without an account (default): your journal entries, streaks, and settings are stored only on your device. We do not receive them.
• If you create an optional account: we collect your email address (used only to sign you in) and sync your journal entries and preferences (goal categories, reminder time) to our cloud database so you can access them across devices. Each row is protected so that only your signed-in account can read or write it.
• Usage analytics: we collect anonymous, aggregated usage events (for example, app opens and which features are used) to improve the app. The content of your journal entries is never sent to analytics.
• Purchases: subscriptions are processed by Google Play Billing. We receive your subscription status only — never your card or bank details.

What we do NOT do

• We do not sell or rent your personal data.
• We do not show ads and do not use third-party advertising trackers.
• We do not use your journal content to train models or share it with anyone.

Your choices and controls

• Export: you can export all of your entries as plain text at any time, free, from Settings.
• Delete: you can delete your account and all associated cloud data at any time from Settings. Local data is removed when you uninstall the app or clear it from Settings.

Data retention

Cloud-synced data is kept until you delete your account, after which it is removed from our systems. Local data lives only on your device.

Service providers

We use Supabase (cloud database & authentication) and PostHog (privacy-oriented usage analytics) to operate the optional cloud features. Payments and subscriptions are handled by Google Play. These providers process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy terms.

Children

The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes

We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
